Why men should always dress up
“Dressing well is a form of good manners,” Tom Ford said, and we couldn’t agree more. If one is to go with the assumption that one should ‘live life like everything matters’ then dressing well for every occasion would be a no-brainer. There is no reason to be average or dress like everyone else when you have the option to dress up, express yourself and have respect for yourself. In the past, dressing up was a sign of respect – whether meeting someone for the first time, going to work, visiting family or spending time with friends.
Wearing a good suit and tie makes you look more authoritative, it makes you look as though you are more capable of doing important or difficult tasks and you will feel much more in control of any situation you are in, trust us on this one. Of course, fashion moves around and drifts from the top down. However, our teenage years were not the pinnacle, and it’s high time that men in their twenties, thirties and beyond stop dressing like teenagers.
A Step Ahead of the Rest
To wear a suit doesn’t mean to look like your local politician. Politicians almost always wear the blandest suits going, but there is absolutely no reason why you have to do the same. In addition, you do not need to go to a bespoke tailor. There are plenty of suit shops which you can buy top-quality suits from. Although, if money is no object, a bespoke tailor is likely to be your best friend.
I challenge you to think about the fashion choice of your friends, relatives or work colleagues. Think about how they dress in comparison with you. Do they dress better than you? Do you dress better than them? Do you dress in a similar way? The latter is the most likely. Research suggests that friends usually dress alike. Why? From a friendship point of view, we are more attracted to someone who dresses similarly to us. There is comfort in it and it means we have something in common. Your friends are also more likely to be on a similar social hierarchy as you and you are more likely to be from the same social class.
If you are reading this then we guess that you are thinking about improving your wardrobe. Whatever your reason for doing this, take courage in the fact that you are obviously looking to improve yourself and fulfil your potential, so well done.
Our Suggestions on How to Look Your Best
First things first, we have plenty of guides here at The Everyday Man which will help you to get your desired look. Before you begin, it is important to establish three things for any stylish man to avoid. Once you are confident that you are avoiding these three things, we recommend taking a look at our list of seven style tips that beginners should know. These tips are relatively simple to achieve and will give you knowledge that 90% of people simply do not know.
When it comes to picking a suit, there are several points that will serve you well. First of all, the fit of a suit is everything, which is why we always recommend a tailored suit above everything. However, your local suit shop customer assistant should also be able to help you pick a suit that fits your body.
Where to Dress Your Best?
Our reason for writing this was to suggest that you should dress your best on every occasion. However, if for whatever reason you are struggling to find an occasion then there are several we can suggest. For example, you could visit your local casino. You don’t have to gamble loads of money in order to enjoy yourself, especially at the top live casino’s which always look to cater to their customers in the best way possible. In addition, most high-quality casinos will have excellent restaurants on location.
Speaking of restaurants, you will certainly never look out of place wearing a top-quality suit at a nice restaurant. We are not talking about your local McDonalds of course. But if there’s a nearby restaurant that you would like to try out, you can dress up for the occasion. In addition, the better dressed you are, the better table you are more likely to get.
If you enjoy attending shows, then you can use the occasion to dress well too. For example, plenty of attendees at Jordan Peterson shows wear three-piece suits. Peterson himself recommends men to wear a suit as often as possible and is also of the opinion that adult men dress like ‘overgrown 10-year-olds’. Attending the theatre, the opera or any show where you witness a comedian or singer in action will allow you to suit up in style.
Always leave the house looking your best, no matter where you are going and you will reap the benefits.
